Rooted In Place - Dominion City Brings Ottawa Beer Festivals To The Next Level
What a night!! This past Saturday, hometown heroes Dominion City hosted Rooted In Place, one of the finest beer festivals I’ve ever attended, and certainly the best that Ottawa has seen. For a winter festival it wound up being the coldest day of the week but it still felt cozy inside. It was very well attended but didn’t feel crowded.
The theme of the festival was beers from around the world made from local ingredients, and man did they bring in a hell of a lineup, from Lost Nation Brewing (VT), Bissel Brothers (ME), Perennial Beer (MO) and Plan Bee Farm Brewery (NY) in the USA, to Brasserie du Bas Canada (QC), Brasserie Dunham (QC) and Twin Sails Brewing (BC) from around Canada, and some heavy Ontario hitters including Willibald Farm Distillery, Brewery & Restaurant, Godspeed Brewery, Left Field Brewery and Barncat Artisan Ales to name just a few!
The crew at Dominion City have long been some of the nicest and hardest working people in the Ottawa beer scene. Pulling together a festival in the middle of winter with the stellar guest list they had is no easy feat, and not only did they pull it off, they made it really feel like a Dominion City event. Anyone who knows the brewery or the people behind it will know what I mean by that. It felt cozy, friendly, and just happy.
They really knocked this one out of the park. It was great to meet the people behind so many of the great breweries in attendance, not to mention great to see so many friendly faces from the amazing #613beer scene. I REALLY hope to see this festival come together again. I’ll be back with bells on. Congratulations Dominion City! You killed it.
